Principal’s Page

Lisa Schmidt was born and raised in the Antelope Valley attending Yucca Elementary, Mesa Junior High School and
Palmdale High continuing her education at Cal State Bakersfield (BA Liberal Studies and Master of Educational
Administration). Her parents, aunts and uncles graduated from Palmdale High School in the 1970s and her grandmother is an alumni of AVHS. Mrs. Schmidt began working for the AVUHSD in 2002 as an instructional aide and moved her way up as a paraeducator, teacher, and administrator throughout her career. Mrs. Schmidt taught at Lancaster High School and Eastside High School, teaching Literature Support, English, English Honors, and AVID. During her time as a teacher she coached dance teams at various school sites, was the CAHSEE  Coordinator, AVID Coordinator and an Instructional Coach. In 2013, Mrs. Schmidt became a Vice Principal in the Antelope Valley Union High School District, serving the school sites of Eastside and Highland. In 2018, Mrs. Schmidt became an
Assistant Principal serving the school sites of Eastside and Antelope Valley. Mrs. Schmidt is now proud to be the Principal at Antelope Valley High School.

Mrs. Schmidt’s professional experiences include 20 years of service in the Antelope Valley Union High School District as a teacher, educational coach, dance coach and administrator. Mrs. Schmidt is proud to be part of the legacy of leadership at Antelope Valley High School. She has a passion for creativity, the arts, and providing people with an opportunity. SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL

The School ​Site ​C​ouncil​ (SSC) of Antelope Valley High School​ is the governing body of the school and is responsible to carry​ out​ the duties​ listed below. The SSC consists of three (3) parents, three (3) students, one (1) Counselor, (3) teachers, the Principal, and one (1) classified staff member​​.  

Responsibilities are:

  • Develop and approve the Single Plan for Student Achievement
  • Obtain recommendations for the proposed Single Plan for Student Achievement from all stakeholders and any applicable school advisory committees (Ed Code64001)
  • Develop and approve the plan and related expenditures in accordance with all state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Recommend the plan and expenditures to the governing board for approval.
  • Provide ongoing review of the implementation of the plan with​ the principal, teachers, and other school staff members.
  • Make modifications to the plan whenever the need arises.
  • Submit the modified plan for governing board approval whenever a material change (as defined in district governing board policy) is made in planned activities or related expenditures.
  • Annually, (and at each semester, trimester, etc.), evaluate the progress made toward school goals to raise the academic achievement of all students.
  • Carry out all other duties assigned to the council by the district governing board and by state law.
